Back in PCU

February 1st, 2011 by MIchelle

Danny just rolled into room 4105 of the PCU. He is in a ton of pain, but dealing with it as best as can be expected. He has the white wrap that looks like a beanie on his head with the drain coming out the top. It makes his head really hot so an ice pack is on its way. They’ve checked his vitals and all is well. Danny’s been through so much. Let’s hope this is the last of the surgeries!

Keep the posts coming. Regardless of how mundane you may think they are, there are many of us hanging on each word. With each new post/update, I try to visualize what you are describing knowing that I’m probably not even close to an accurate picture but I have been in the ICU in Portland, ME when one of my best friends had a TBI. I know the dark room, the beeps, tubes, wires, monitors, quiet, shaved head, staples, swollen face, tears, etc. Unfortunately, she did not survive more than a few days in the hospital. I get teary reading the posts wishing my friend had been as lucky as Danny. Good luck isn’t alway’s what you get. Sometimes it’s what you don’t get. Keep on, Keepin on, Danny et al.
