Success at the Fat Cat!

February 15th, 2011 by Conor

Yes, I have been a little lazy since I got back to Lake Tahoe. Had I still been in Montana I probably would have attempted to write about the huge success at the Fat Cat the night of the event. Well things are a little different now that I am back in Tahoe and able to unwind a little bit. A little bit slower and a little more emphasis on trying to escape the horrible reality of Montana. Furthermore if I had written it after the night of the Fat Cat if might not have gone over so well…

With the help of some unbelievable friends and the Fat Cat the fundraiser held last Wednesday raided almost $2,800! Everyone had a huge smile and was totally supportive of the cause. It was great to see such a huge turnout. I really couldn’t believe how many people both showed up but also emptied their pockets for the cause.

Thank you to the Fat Cat, bartenders, musicians, beer distributors, businesses, all of our friends that helped to organize the event and EVERYONE that turned out to support Danny. I don’t want to mention names only for fear that I will forget someone. You know who you are and it means the world to my family and I that you helped us out!

The raffle was a huge success thanks to all the wonderful businesses below:

The Chocolate Bar in the Village at Northstar
The Bridgetender in Tahoe City
The Crest Cafe in Alpine Meadows
Sunnyside in Tahoe City
Mamasake in The Village at Squaw Valley
The Tahoe House in Tahoe City

And the Winner is…

Michelle’s hat, we actually Ellen K’s hat of Glen New Hampshire, was just raffled off bedside. Danny has been a little groggy this evening but was more than happy to pull a name out of a hat. Sorry everyone that has a higher expectation of my video skills. This was shot with a hand held point and shoot camera and I mistakenly put my hand over the mic at one point. Just another whoops to add to the grand mix.

Michelle’s Hats are BACK! Raffling off the donation!

February 1st, 2011 by Conor

Some of you may have noticed that Michelle’s hats have been off the radar for a little bit now. The truth is that since Danny has been snapping out of things they haven’t been quite the same priority. She has 2 that are half done that we should hopefully have up in the next few days or so. In the meantime, Ellen K from Glen, NH wants to raffle off the hat that she purchased from Michelle. For those of you that don’t remember here are the pictures of Michelle wearing the hat included with a picture that Ellen took of it.That you very much to Ellen for your your generosity!

****Tickets for this auction will be sold until 7PM EST tomorrow (February 2nd). We are hoping that Danny will be picking the winning hat if his “massive head ache” goes down.”****

I have a feeling that we are down to our last 3 or 4 official Montana made Michelle hats. Get ’em while you can!

Ellen described it as dark turquoisey blue with cocoa and other shades mixed in.

Danny. by Maura Garrity

February 1st, 2011 by Conor

Maura Garrity did this hand made drawing of Danny. It came in a little earlier this evening. She wants to donate it to the fund raising process but wants to make sure it’s 100% perfect before someone gets it. What do you think everyone?

Glen Junction Love

January 28th, 2011 by Conor

For those of you that don’t know Danny is a big fan of Glen Junction. It’s on the “must do” list anytime Danny is back at home in NH. Even in a cloudy daze, Danny requested to head there as soon as he got out of the hospital. In case you don’t believe me here is a conversation we had with him the night before his 3rd surgery:

In case you missed the coupon in the paper here it is again. Never expires… 20% Off food, 20% to Danny. Glen Junction is the Bomb!

UPPING THE ANTE: DOUBLE YOUR DONATION CHALLENGE

January 25th, 2011 by Conor

I’m Joe Vitka, married to Dan’s mom Ellen Shea, I’d like to thank all of you that have been so supportive of Ellen and Dan through this rough patch; and I’d like to issue a FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE that applies to all those that have previously donated so generously and those that want to help.

UPPING THE ANTE: DOUBLE YOUR DONATION DOLLARS

I will match any and all donations, including those funds previously donated, on a 1-1 basis; example, should there be $12,340. already raised I’ll match that amount upon receipt of the checks to the Danny Toumarkine Assistance Trust up to a total of $25,000.. That means if Dan’s friends and buddies raise $25,000. I will match up to that amount, thus doubling what is raised.

So for those that ask what they can do here’s a chance to DOUBLE YOUR DONATION DOLLARS !!!!! Remember that if you send $100. I’ll match it thus making your $100. a $200. total donation; send $1,000. I’ll match making it your donation worth $2,000. Total limit I’ll match is a cumulative $25,000. Dig deep.

We have set up the Danny Toumarkine Assistance Trust to help Dan out; the bills are going to be massive, beyond what Dan’s health insurance will cover, and the rehab portion of recovery long and arduous. Anything that you can do will be greatly appreciated.

Please send donations to:

Danny Toumarkine Assistance Trust

John R Deislinger
404 Main Street
Wilmington, Ma. 01887

Thanks

Joe Vitka
